Indonesian resort Samara Lombok secures investment, to open in 2028
The project has secured a “substantial” investment from Westgrove– a multi-family workplace with workplaces in London, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur– which will advance Samara Lombok’s final stage of property development.
Presently, a limited variety of complete properties at Samara Lombok are readily available for sale on a 90-year leasehold period– significantly longer than the 25- to 30-year tenures typical across Bali and much of Indonesia, according to the press release. Buyers can pick from 12 villa designs ranging from two- to five-bedders, with building and construction schedules of 15 to 18 months.
Lombok, which neighbours Bali, has steadily obtained recognition in recent times. The island is anticipated to see more development, backed by assistance from the Indonesian federal government. Mandalika, an area in South Lombok, has been identified as a new tourism center, with around US$ 3 billion ($3.81 billion) in public financial investments being put into a new Special Economic Zone that includes infrastructural enhancements, new hotels and a racing circuit.
Samara Lombok is led by Erik Barreto, Steve Ebsworth and Tom Wheeler. The trio are also co-founders of Rascal Republic, a Singapore-based hospitality and advancement team, whose ventures include Dallas Restaurant & Bar, a bar-bistro idea at Marina Bay Sands; and yacht charter business Rascal Voyages, that specialises in deluxe charters throughout the Indonesian archipelago.
The project is going to also be the initial Destination by Hyatt property in Southeast Asia. In May 2025, Hyatt announced that Samara Lombok would join its accounts of Indonesian real estates through a franchise agreement with the developer. Under the Destination by Hyatt brand, resorts are presented through Hyatt’s global distribution network and loyalty program whilst keeping operational freedom.
With brand-new roads, Samara Lombok is now a 25-minute travel from Lombok International Flight Terminal.
Later on, Samara Lombok’s villas will be increased to 500. Homeowners and guests at the property development will have connectivity to 12 restaurants, a club, a marine biology and water sports facility, a tennis academy with tennis and padel courts, as well as a football training center.
Samara Lombok– a 150ha combined resort property development including hotels, villas and centers– is readied to start along the southerly shore of Lombok, Indonesia, in 2028. It will be one of the area’s most thorough luxury locations, using 3 shop hotels and 150 villas when it launches in 1Q2028, according to a May 11 news release by the property development.
